Era stato pensato a Megan Fox, ma sembra che per non temere il confronto con la prima questa abbia rifiutato. CITAZIONE Remember when Warner Brothers announced they were developing a Tomb Raider reboot? That was a year ago and we haven’t heard a peep towards any commencement since.
So we did our own tomb-raiding and uncovered what’s going on. At the moment, nothing’s happening. I know plenty will bitch and moan "Who cares about Tomb Raider anymore?" Well, the two Angelina Jolie starring films earned about $450 million worldwide. Then you have the video games (where this all started obviously), home video, etc. that continue to sell. Given the recent examples of Batman, James Bond and Star Trek, rebooting is a viable route to go for troubled franchises.
It also boils down to who the studio can get to headline. Unlike the afore-mentioned Trek, the Spider-Man reboot and countless others, it was felt a "name" actress was the best direction to head. Get someone audiences already know to peak their interest in seeing this new Tomb Raider. Fair enough.
Such a "name" included Transformers star Megan Fox who was made an offer. The problem is she’s been widely compared to Angelina Jolie in the past. Taking the role would have only further fueled said comparison. Thus she understandably said, "Thanks, but no thanks!"
Well the studio then went to an arguably bigger name – Twilight star Kristen Stewart. She’s a hot item right now along with her Twilight co-stars – especially Taylor Lautner. He’s attached to so many projects I don’t have enough fingers to count them all. Wouldn’t be surprised if he was on-board for another three or so by the time this article is published. But a deal between Stewart and the WB couldn't be reached.
And that is where we stand at this very moment. We frankly don’t know if it’ll ever happen. But WB is definitely trying to get a Tomb Raider reboot going. |
